About North County Construction & Restoration LLC

Hello, I am Paul Hanlin. My family and I live in Washington State, just north of Portland, OR. My professional career includes 37 years of experience in the insurance and construction fields.

My career started in construction, working during my summer breaks from school. I began by framing houses and working on agricultural construction projects. After finishing school, I entered the construction world full time. Over the next 21 years, I honed my skills on everything from custom residential homes, to light and mid-sized commercial projects. I moved up from carrying lumber, to jobsite foreman, then to project managing, and then to estimating and consulting.

I began to work for a number of adjusting firms on the east coast to do damage assessments and evaluation of structure claims. I quickly realized that there was a niche for someone who had “hands-on” experience in construction estimating.

I noticed that claims were rarely estimated properly for several reasons:

Lack of communication between the insured and the adjuster.
Inexperience of an adjuster.
Improper repair procedures due to the lack of “hands-on” experience.
Lack of policy and construction knowledge on the part of the insured.

I realized there was an opportunity in the insurance world where I could assist in structure estimating, negotiation of claims, mediation, and appraisal. This has led me to where I am today. I have since dedicated the last 20 years to working as an advocate for policyholders, attorneys, insurance companies, and restoration contractors.

Let me be the “voice of reason” in your insurance or builder disputes.

Licensed as a public adjuster in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, and Arizona. Licensed as an independent adjuster in Washington and Oregon.
I have compiled hundreds of Xactimate structure estimates, from hundreds of dollars to multi-million dollar claims.
21 years of hands on experience in residential remodeling, residential new construction, and small to midsize commercial projects.
20 years experience working as an advocate for policyholders, attorneys, contractors, and insurance companies.
I have a solid reputation for being fair and steadfast in appraisal, claim disputes, and claim negotiation.

Business Administration

Hello, my name is Reenie! I have a background in business and design. You can find me managing emails, scheduling, and bookkeeping.

Our Philosophy

You will find that we are not one of the construction firms who will stop at nothing to get you to sign a contract with us in the midst of one of the most devastating times of your life. There are no “smoke and mirror” tactics with us, no paid phone call advocates, no over-promising of “lottery winning” settlements, no scare tactics.   I would never want these manipulative tactics used on me and will never play the “sales game” with you.

We also will not use scare tactics of lifelong financial demise if you do not use our services because all insurance adjusters are trying to rip you off.  We don’t believe adjusters are bad people, they simply have a job to do and that’s to make sure the insurance company isn’t overpaying your claim. Our job is to simply prove to them why they need to pay more or show you as the insured that they have paid fairly within the confines of your policy.  The policy is a contract and both parties must adhere to the contract terms, forms, and endorsements.

In summary, we don’t play games. Frankly, I am tired of this sales approach happening to me by an array of services, and I certainly would not want this done to me if I were in a life-altering situation, like managing an insurance claim.

We will initially meet with you to review your policy, review your damages, show you your coverages and how they may be applicable, and educate you so you can make an informed decision on how to move forward with no coercive sales tactics and no strings attached.

Let’s See If We’re a Good Fit

You are owed fairly for your loss, based on the contractual agreement (your policy) between you and the insurance company. If you, as the insured, have unrealistic expectations for your settlement, we will tell you that.

If the insurance company is being unfair, then we have years of experience behind us to rationally put them in their place, whether through negotiations, the insurance appraisal process, mediation, or litigation.

I am here to help, and to treat you as I would want to be treated throughout this entire process.
